Tom Rush Recovering From Coronavirus Dept.

I just read on an internet that Tom Rush had contracted coronavirus. A hasty search led me to the news that he's recovering. Let's pray he still is.

I've had Voices on constant rotation these last few days - it's much better and richer than I thought on first listen. Full of affection and warmth and strength - and humor. Think a folky JJ Cale with a shit hot Nashville band, and a bunch of songs you'll be singing - and whistling! - along to after a few plays. It's perfect comfort music for the times, and the nicest album of its type since Naturally.

NOTE: His albums re-upped - look for Take It Slow, February.

Back when I was a younger lad, I went to my first real concert at the Fillmore in SF to see Fleetwood Mac (post-Peter Green, but still with Jeremy Spencer in one of his final shows). Second on the bill was Tom Rush. The opening band was Clover with a guy named Huey Lewis.

  3. Haven't gotten around to "old" Tom Rush yet (made myself a swell comp of his prime years from the stuff y'all posted), but will definitely give this a listen as soon as possible.

  4. Marianne Faithfull is also in hospital, in London, with the wicked bug.

Glad to see FMF back up & running. We need it, badly, in these trying times.

Kudos to Farq, aka 1st Responder in Wit.

("To Wit" didn't seem to fit...)

And then there are the "Comments" section dwellers. All 4-or-5. They'd fall under the "Sans Wit" Dept.

    2. That's right, just ask "Philly Joe" Jones!
Over on Bleecker St. at Faicco's Italian Specialties, if you tell Tony: "Yo Tony, gimmie a Proscuitto, ham, capicola, soppressata and motz (mozzarella) wit". You get it wit lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oil, vinegar, and oregano.

There's a also a wit & wisdom joke in here somewhere.....
