Rocklete™! That's right, sports fans - the term Rocklete™ is Nils Lofgren's registered trademark! I wonder why he didn't use Athletician™? Anyways, today's Bumper Fun Blisterpack™ is a veritable smörgåsbörd tsunami o' trampolenin' tuneage!
Here's Nils to tell the story. Nils?
"A high, high hi-di-hi to th' Four Or Five Guys©! Woo-hoo! I'm excited to share these thirty-nine bonus tracks of rare recordings and special demos through the years. They originally appeared on the out of print ten disc Face The Music box set. Featuring unreleased Grin tracks and a bunch of other bouncin' beats! Wheeee! Grin’s version of Keith Don’t Go features an inspired performance by Neil Young on piano and vocals. It rocks! It rocks out! And then it rocks back in again! Also, one of the greatest voices ever, Lou Gramm duets on Some Must Dream and I’ll Arise, for all you little ladies out there! Love ya! Hope you all enjoy these tracks and thank you all for listening all these decades. You, th' Four Or Five Guys©, are the main inspiration for everything you hear, here! Bless you all! YEEEEEEEEE-HAW!"
This post made visible over the event horizon by Arizona, to whom we extend our thanks.
Babs? "Are you decent?"
ReplyDeleteWhat is everyone's favorite midnight snack?
ReplyDeleteWell I've just had jacob's cream crackers and primula cheese with chives if that counts, but it was 2 a.m. not midnight.
ReplyDeleteA line of blow. hoovered off Rholonne Déodoranté's perineum.
ReplyDeleteCareful there, Rholonne's favorite midnight snack, is a black bean burrito.
DeleteBwa-Ha-Ha - you kids are too mulch, er...much! I wonder what Kreeme's doing tonight?
DeleteYou wouldn't be interested. Chick stuff.
DeleteMy favorite midnight snack, food-wise, is a bit of cheese. Last night I had pimento cheese spread on crackers. Yum. It's been so hot here, it interferes with ones' appetite. As far as Nils goes, I'm not familiar with his music. So sad, as I know the Bonzos very well.
ReplyDeleteA glorious mix of .. Marmite, marmalade, peanut butter and cheese toastie!!! Yummy!! Yum Yum!!!
ReplyDeleteCold pasta and prosecco
ReplyDelete-Muzak McMusics
Did someone say not familiar with Nils Lofgren's music???? WHere am I? Must . . . have . . . more . . . drink . . . . *cough*
ReplyDeleteI cannot possibly imagine stuffing my face in the middle of the night. Not common practice outside of the Lower 48.
ReplyDeleteNot something I often do. If I do have an evening snack, it's probably around 9 o'clock because I've had an early evening meal. If I do snack, it's probably cheese.
ReplyDeleteAs for Nils - I like his voice more than his guitar playing.
Heeeeere's the Athletician™

one evening we stood in the rain outside the BottomLine in New York to see one Nils. and true to form when the show went on it was perhaps 45m in when said character climbed to the top of a large amp on stage & jumped guitar & all to the stage. Ladeda. yas' hes a jumper
ReplyDeleteApparently, his hip replacement means no more athletics.
ReplyDeleteGymnastics would be a better term.
DeleteFalafel or hummus. A few blocks from my building is a 24/7 Israeli Falafel joint. In Manhattan, there's very little difference between 1AM and 1PM.
ReplyDeleteThe best we can do here is an instant pizza dispenser 20 minutes' drive away.
Delete12:20 am is when i start my day, so i just have breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Costco Extra Fancy Mixed Nuts nut, because I'm an extra fancy guy. And I was a huge fan of those first couple Grin albums. I expected him to be the next rock god.
ReplyDeleteCheese n' Crackers. As for Nils...in pre-punk 1975, that first LP was a big deal to me. The world was going disco and here was a New Guitar Hero. We used to commute into Berkeley to imports at Rather Ripped Records, and the guy behind the counter had recorded Lofgren's KSAN broadcast from the Record Plant on Oct. 31, 1975....which I couldn't record because I was at the Springsteen concert at Oakland's Paramount Theatre.
ReplyDeleteI'm still mildly interested in his work, but for my money, that first LP was the best thing he ever did.
He's made just under one metric shitload of great albums. But I zone out with the late seventies (with the rest of the late seventies).
DeleteCheez Whiz on grouse.
ReplyDeleteGee - which you is quite th' goremandy, Clar! Boner patty!
DeleteWhite popcorn from hot air popper with unsalted Irish butter and salt to taste.
ReplyDeleteOn account which we don't seem to have mentioned it yet - this (the Nils comp) is überswellegant. I'm playing it for the first time, and I'm impressed by the quality. If you're a Nils an - such as je - you'll enjoy this.
ReplyDeleteMidnite snack..., tricky, whatever happens to be available in the fridge, varying from cheese to stroopwafel!
ReplyDeleteTwo 12 inch subs and a 16 inch pizza (preferably thick crust pepperoni)
ReplyDeleteListening to Nils since 1973.
