Fun With Fine Art! And Drugs! Dept.

Claudia Bueno, she say nugatorio to drugs! She clearly doesn't need them, being out of her head on natural forms. She suffers less than most artists from from artspeak bullshit, but contemporary fine art has long been established as much by text as the work itself, so we mustn't blame her for the little she uses. Nobody needs to say anything about this, and yet we expect the artist to explain and the critic to analyse. It's just ... wordlessly ... beautiful. STFU.

(And, I have to say, she has a nice ass. Because that's the kind of guy I am. Disappointing, yet predictable. A guy.)

  1. Greatest gallery show what you been to?

My most influential was the epochal Pop Art show at London's prestigious Hayward Gallery. That really did change my life, made it brighter and more fun, and my head is still full of those colors.

  2. This is great.

I went to see some works by Leonora Carrington about 25 years ago. Mostly small canvases, but made a big impact.

    2. I didn't know the work of Leonora Carrington, but my cultured friend was driving to the gallery in Chichester and persuaded me I would enjoy her work. Leonora Carrington was British but spent most of her later years living in Mexico, I believe.

  3. I went to an exhibition of Rembrandt's late works at the National Gallery, London, in 2014. I think what struck me most was the warm-hearted generosity, honesty and sensitivity that comes across in his portrayals. He shows us real people with all their strengths and vulnerabilities - something that particularly came across in his self portraits. A genius beyond a doubt.

  8. I am shocked that a web colleague of mine would notice, commodify and comment on the female posterior.
But she does have a great ass, doesn't she?

  9. I could list a few gallery shows that fall into the jaw-dropping category; Jean Tinguely at the Palazzo Grassi, Picasso at the Louvre ... shows that I've found more thrilling and memorable than some rock shows or theatrical productions. They've been exceptions - most shows I've been to were just walk-throughs to the shop.

  10. Hmm as eco art goes this seems sadly dependent on plastic pens and plastic sheets which kind of defeats the object somewhat...also her 'lone' trips on wilderness were advantagously tracked and folmed....corporate greenery smells..

  12. FANTASTIC!! Very inspiring! I'm looking forward to seeing the immersive Van Gogh exhibit here next month -- should be super cool like this one. I'm not sure what the best exhibit I've seen is; the Chagall museum in Nice was super impressive but then again so were the impressionist exhibits, German expressionists, and we're not far from the Dali museum whose work is also super cool to see up close and personal. Love the Picassos I've seen in various places as well. Thanks for sharing this!!

    1. Hey there Mr. Dave -- one of my classmates at New College in Sarasota works at the Dali Museum. He also co-hosts a show on WMNF.
