Th' Classics Re-Imagined Dept. - WaM

In the first Mrs. Myra Nussbaum Memorial Lecture [FoamFeatured antecedently - Ed.], I made a persuasive case for Why Classical Music Is Shit. Or at least sounds like it. But it also looks like it. With few exceptions, classical albums feature shit stock landscape photography or shit antique paintings, or shit photographs of the artiste.

And those old-timey longhairs didn't help any, naming their compositions with all the poetry of auto part numbers in a factory catalog.

But it doesn't have to be like that, especially here, at Froth Central©, where we can basically do what the fuck we like. This is the first, and possibly the last, in a series that shows what classical music could look like if approached from the 21c.

  1. I can't seem to track down the actual artist etc... Shazam, Google etc.

    Dang burnette to heck.

  2. OK, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. That's my final guess.

Absolute genius. Both of those links were outstanding. Way to share the joy!

  6. Yup, it's Mozart's snappily-titled "Clarinet Concerto In A, KV 622". It's a great album. A little short, but that's okay, the medium hadn't been invented yet. And you know what? I reckon this is the way he'd want his music packaged if he was alive and not dead.

Download it for the track titles if you have it already.

    1. Brilliant titles! My version just has these dull generic ones like Allegro, Adagio and Rondo (Allegro). These (are they yours?) assist the listener greatly in interpreting the music, lifting his mood a couple of notches skyward.

    2. The idea, titles and the art are mine. That's Marisa Berenson in Barry Lyndon. Wotta dame!

    3. And candlelight becomes her very well.

  7. I don't really get why they would keep coming out with
these remakes when the original's always better. No,
    wait! Just kidding! It's a media-theoretical wisecrack!

To me, this whole package is actually thought-provoking
(on top of being cute and clever), so thanks for that.

  8. Thanks for all your comments, music lovers! I'll come up with another in the series just as soon as these Roswells are finished with their anal probe.

  9. I liked "Barry Lyndon" from the first time I watched it. Maybe it was the last time, though. Long damn movie. My attention span ain't what it used to be. Excellent soundtrack, though. This Wolfgang business is much better than that Falco crap, which seems more targeted to the "network TV singing competition" viewing demographic, at best.

  10. From the vaguely remembered fragments of the trailers for the Amadeus movie I never bothered to watch I take it he is considered by some to be the "punk rocker" of his day so I'm willing to offer the uninformed and baseless opinion that he might approve of this repackaging.
