ReplyDeleteSorry to read about your father. Positive vibes from New Orleans.
ReplyDeleteFestive greetings from Spain Farq. I remember warm tales of your father from the other place. Wishing you all the best for whatever real life throws at you.
ReplyDeleteHairnets - where in Spain? We are strongly considering relocating there.
DeleteI am in Andalucia - in the south - about 30 miles inland. Is this Brexit related? You need to move fast - FOM will continue during the 'transition' (so we're told) - but will end at the end of next year. Residency and administrative issues a breeze compared to the Kafka-esque systems the UK has in place. Learn some lingo, and you won't regret it. Spain has its problems, but round here it still feels like a place that puts people before profit.
DeleteNot Brexit related - we live in the US (New Orleans). Was looking at Seville and Cadiz as potential landing spots.
DeleteMy brain has been stuck in a really bad Brexit groove for some time.
DeleteI live out in the sticks, so I'm sorry I can't give you any kind of detailed personal flavour of the places you're thinking about. I've visited Seville and Cadiz a few times. Both are lovely, ancient cities, with oodles of history. Seville centre is quite touristy, but the tapas there is considered some of the best. The Andalucian cities of Cordoba, Granada and Malaga are also worth checking out.
We recently spent a day in Granada and enjoyed it. Have not been to Cordoba or Malaga. Probably going to rent a place for a year first and then look to purchase so that we will have more time to look around. Thx for the suggestions!
DeletePrayers for Dad. You're a good man, Farquhar. Hang in there. I hung in for 15 months.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you Farq, whatever the circumstances may be.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything goes well with your father, I'm sending out some positive vibes for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWith very best wishes . . .
ReplyDelete"Something of England will go with him in memory
That Ariel summer down to the sea
Racing the rattler under galleon skies
The halloo from a hill, the cut pillows with steam
And apples bright as bells in the shining bower
The chalk stream chill and ribbon rill
By the wagon in the furrowed lea
Through blithe lanes to the free house
A seat in the sunset window, and her laugh
Rig the dappled canvas, spark and tinder
The starstruck sigh of her name
And the breath of old gods, green and gold
Passed then from that blessed earth
On the best of days, and the last
The Radio Times unread, not thinking much at all
The kettle clouds the dimming glass, waits for his star to fall"
The four or five guys is a bigger crowd than you think.
Cheers, Peanuts Molloy
Especially if you count the multiple personalities and aliases that many of us have......
DeleteBetter you than me... I mean, hope you feel better soon, it'll all work out fine, please come home for Christmas, etc.
ReplyDeleteYawning Angel sez...
ReplyDeleteI hope your Dad situation is not a dire one. High quality mojo sent, regardless. Wishing you peace and warm cuddles for 2020!
