Everything Must Go - Goose. Buy this album. |
I'd never heard of these guys, which is fine, because I ain't heard of shit since I got old. But by happenstance I downloaded this yestiddy and I'm only three tracks in and I've got that buzz, that shiver up the back of the neck, as Dustin Hoffman is peaking and I love these guys unreservedly and would gladly buy their albums should they ever come to my hometown because they are so freaking wonderful it's like hearing something on the car radio and you pull over so you can concentrate on it because you want to know who the fuck this band is and why you've never heard of them and YES!
Apparently Goose are a "jam band" - ask a Young Person - but this album is chock full o' swell tuneage, kwalidee vox, and slinky playing that'll have you buying a newspaper just to check it ain't 1979. So I grabbed Ted Tapes 2024 [left - Ed.] which is them stretching out like Stretch Armstrong on a guitar with rubber strings. The deliverable includes this also too, but I suspect it's Everything Must Go [hmm - familiar-sounding title - Ed.] I'll return to because right now it's all I want to listen to! YES!

To claim your free, personal copies of these life-enhancing albums, simply spell RHYTHM without looking it up or copy-pasting. One more time for those having a Senior Moment: RHYTHM.
ReplyDeleteum .. riddim?? .. rithem?? .. rythum??? ... ah ...goddit!! ... rhythm!!! Yeah!👍
ReplyDeleteSorry, Steve! First choice counts! You'd have loved this album, too! Shame!
DeleteDoh!!
DeleteFarq is this Goose from New Zealand or YOU S
ReplyDeletediscogs:
DeleteAmerican jam rock band from Norwalk, CT, founded in 2014.
Goose was formed in 2014 by singer and guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, drummer Ben Atkind, and bassist Trevor Weekz. Rick, Trevor, and Ben had previously played together in the band Vasudo. Multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach joined the band in 2017, followed by percussionist Jeff Arevalo in 2020, with Cotter Ellis joining the band in 2024.
BUT WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS that I just listened to a ninety-minute album without once drifting off to stand in a room somewhere wondering why I came in. Boyoboyoboy! Wotta NALBUM!!!!!
Apology that was Mother Goose in NZ ( insane live band very good for micro etc(
ReplyDeleteif you just go with r&b, you don;t have to spell either of'em....it's a twofer
ReplyDeleteI can do this! Yeah! Used to go to the RHYTHM FESTIVAL in the UK years ago. Beautiful little festival with well chosen line-ups, and as a side effect I learnt how to spell the name of the festival. And despite being old, probably even older than our island host, I already have the Goose new one, and it is indeed fab.
ReplyDeleteGer is the first with a correct answer, and will be rewarded with this FoamBonus™ BlisterPak® - but wait! He already has it! D'oh! We'll just have to wait for someone else to spell rhythm. I'm going to beddy-byes, so comment moderation is on, but please keep the competition entries coming! Remember - the lucky winner could be you! Imagine the looks on your pals faces at the abattoir as you play this swell new album to calm the beasts before you bounce the sledgehammer off their bonces!
DeleteI knew that eventually there would be a decent mix of the Grateful Dead and Umphries McGee out there. Now, if jam bands could ever come to the UK, and there was some of that mary-jew-ana easily available for respectable law abiding citizens like what I am, I might be set up nicely.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the word again I’m supposed to be typing? Dabnabit!
ReplyDeleteOT but harking back to the received wisdom regarding the Eagles i learned today the 'We Built This City' by Starship is ostensibly deemed by the taste/poise mavens to be the worst track ever in the history of records that were always uncool even before the Coen Brothers decided to have a snidey pop at them.
ReplyDeleteGrace Slick loathes that song with a passion, and it's always good to hear Our Gracie on a rant. Written by Martin Page, a hack UK pop composer who's a zillionaire thanks to his nagging way with a hook, and Bernie Taupin, the Dan Brown of rock lyricists. Which brings us to Elton John, and I do wish he'd shut up.

Guitars, voices, dynamics ... they do make them like this any more.
"RITHM"
ReplyDeleteWhen in doubt - let phonetics do the heavy lifting.
Regarding this deliverable - causes me to question whether I am doing enough to stay up to speed with everything going on Planet Earth - because I knew nothing about this band.
This freaking group you discovered is a VERY tasty listening experience. It conjures up many different musical reference points for me - all of which I like. The chug a lug funky thing happening on "Thatch" puts a big ol' smile on my face.
ขอบคุณมาก
Me neither - I'm so out of the loop. I downloaded this on the strength of the song titles, which I thought showed the right attitude, and the cover, which has a lot of careful pleasure worked into it. It only takes me a few bars to know if I like something, and this hooked me right away. I'm getting into the Ted Tapes now.
DeleteTell you what though but - their tunes remind me a lot of latterday Paul Simon songs.

ReplyDeleteRHYTHM Why isn't that word spelled better? Yes. I also love Goose. Surely one of the best bands named after an animal. Fun post this. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGuess I'll just let the RHYTHM take me!
