Those with a tendency to suffer epileptic fits may want avoid looking at the above Foam-O-Graph© [above - Ed.] |
Older readers may remember Randy Randomguy™, th' IoF© Randomness Representative. Then again, older readers may not have clue one what I'm talking about. Back in the days when th' IoF© was funny, Randy would show up randomly to ask you to list the first five, or ten, or seven and a half, tunes to appear on your device in shuffle mode. It was a rousing success, encouraging engagement and proving harmless amusement for maybe like oh I don't know, not very many, who's counting?
So I thought we'd see if there are enough of youse bums left to make this a worthwhile initiative. Oboy! Some fun, huh, gang?!
This post made possible thru basically not having much else to do now I fed the dogs.
Here's my Top Nine Randos:
ReplyDeleteIn A Different Light - Bangles
On Your Way Down - Little Feat
Love Song Without Flute - Caravan
Helpless - CSNY (how I hate this fucking song, btw)
It Happened In Monterey - Bing Crosby & Rosemary Clooney
Dark-Eyed Woman - Spirit
That's How Much I Love You Baby (More Or Less) - HP Lovecraft
Never Say When - The dB's
Souvenirs - Django Reinhardt
Sam Cooke: Twistin' in the Kitchen with Dinah
ReplyDeleteFrank Turner: Wessex Boy (Original Demo)
Johnny Pearson: Chase That Man
The Killers: The Man (Jacques Lu Cont Remix)
Charlie Haden & Hank Jones: Bringing in the Sheaves
The Beatles: Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
Giant Sand: Shrine
Eric Clapton with Sheryl Crow & Bonnie Raitt: Everything Is Broken (Live)
Delbert McClinton: Settin' the Woods on Fire
Shovels & Rope: Kemba's Got the Cabbage Moth Blues (Live)
Not proud of all of these.
As usual, I do NOT have "random play" as I don't use a "shuffle" device. I have a flash drive in my car with an ever-increasing number of 500 song "mixes." So I call out....Mix #29! Songs 270 to 282! Show me what you got, baby!
ReplyDelete270 Vanilla - Sour Cream and Other Regrets
271 The Morning Line - June Bugs In April
272 John Cale - I Keep A Close Watch
273 Paul Crane & the Overend Watts - Dypsomaniak
274 Brenda Lee - Sweet Nothin's
275 Carlene Carter - Do It In A Heartbeat
276 Big Star - In The Street
277 The Clash - Koka Kola
278 Joe Ely Band - Brainlock
279 Bob Dylan - Everything Is Broken
280 Charlie Walker - Pick Me Up On Your Way Down
281 Cotton Mather - Last of the Mohicans
282 Noel Coward - Has Anyone Seen Our Ship
This certainly qualifies as random in my book. I love listening to my phone music on shuffle in my truck - some of my best listening gets done there.
DeleteUsing a flash drive in a car has problems. My last player would play the songs in order, but with a 999 song limit in a folder. The newer play ignores the file name and plays them in order of the metatag title. So these days, I just hit "shuffle."

ReplyDeleteWhen I told the Miss' (Willamina, for those who were wonderin') that there was another one of those random whatcha' listening to type of things she looked up from her bead work and said how do you get anything random coming out of the Wurlitzer we have out back in the barn. And I'm not ashamed to say I rightly didn't know. Well, before I was able to formulate a plan, the Miss' who's got more than some Ute in her - makin' her strong as an ox, and that jukebox was being shaken something like a plate of jello on the back of a angry bronco. No need to worry none. The boy, Billy Jr. is real good with his hands and that jukebox should be up and as good as new in no time. So I'm using the random function of the computer, no shaking needed.
As ever,
Billy Gates of the Doubble X ranch and the ten songs the computer selected.

Why not install Musicolet on your phone, like a reasonable human being? It's free, no ads, no internet snooping, just a fantastic app that turns your shitty old phone into an iPod-stomping music player. Then you can, if you're smart as your phone, load a 1TB sd chip-thingy into your phone with thousands of mp3 files on it. Then you can fix a bum gun to it and your life will be complete. But you won't, because YOU JUST DON'T LISTEN. *door slams*
DeleteI listened. I helped install Musicolet on my friends old obsolete tablet, now she has all her old cd’s available to play on there, and loves it.
DeleteI literally cannot understand people who don't use it. More than that - they fuel within me a burning hatred for the human race and their obstinate ignorance.
DeletePs any chance of a pic of said dogs?
ReplyDeleteGetting our three remaining dogs into a tiktok-worthy pose is beyond me. They're pretty rubbish, anyway.
