Wings made a very fine album indeed, back in '68. Oz Bach, from FoamFavorites™ Spanky And Our Gang, played bass and wrote. MOR songthrush Pam Robins lent her tonsils and co-wrote. Also features Jerry Poloquin (the Airplane's first drummer) and production/arrangement from Steve Barri and Jimmy Haskell. Typically first-tier folk rock from Dunhill.
This post brought to fruition thru organic nurturing and peaceful vibes

Livin' in these times in which we're livin' in, a dose of good vibes is what we need. Where do you go, what do you do, to get them good vibrations?
ReplyDeleteAnother Wings graduate: keyboardist Steve Knight went on to join Mountain. A step down?
ReplyDeleteFirst guitarist Eddie Simon was Paul's younger bro!

Good vibes?? .. at the beach (recently in Cha-am) .. by the sea (Tainan in Taiwan, also recently!!
ReplyDeleteMm, nice. Steve or Koen?
DeleteLiving in a town by the sea I have access to the beach a twenty minute walk away, there are also two parks a similar distance for good vibes. Unfortunately I also remember that there were a lot more green spaces around here when I was a kid, the suburbs have all joined up to form a mega town.
ReplyDeleteI get a train to see my old friends most weeks, this is enjoyable but sometimes I fancy a change of vibe. Recently good vibrations have been found in a pub only a five minute walk from my house, here on a night the pub closes early, for the two or three hours before closing a rather lovely diverse group of people gathers. Music is often the subject of conversation and I have been turned on to a few bands albums that I probably would have missed otherwise. I have to admit that I regularly have more laughs with these people than I do with my old friends - the vibe is strong and the diversity a very positive thing.
Twenty minute walk to the beach is ideal. Cool beans.
DeleteEddie Simon was a neighbor back when I lived in Greenwich Village. At the time he was busy with his Guitar Study Center, which was affiliated with New School for Social Research. Very nice guy.
ReplyDeleteHow about that?! Oz Bach was by all accounts a diamond geezer, too.
DeleteTwo really nice bars/music clubs very close to our house in Seville: Gallo Rojo and Allegro Ma Non Tropo. Jazz, Middle Eastern, Fado, Choro amongst other musical stylings on a weekly basis.
ReplyDeleteI bet you wus sobbing into your vuvuzela yestiddy ...
DeleteYou need a new map, amigo.
DeleteIt's not the only new thing I need.
DeleteI can help with the map. You are on your own with the rest. Now, where did I leave that vuvuzela?????
DeleteThe girls in tiny bikinis at Laguna Beach!
ReplyDeleteI often ask one or two girls if I can shoot a roll of film (or two or three) of them and I haven't been turned down yet!

"Shoot a roll ..." is that what you're calling it now?
DeleteWell, that's what I say and they get the idea immediately...I think the magic phrase is "roll of film", it works every time!

I'm not sure we should be making this information available to the young people out there. There are a few sweet summer children out there (the under-fifties) whose innocence should be protected.
DeleteTo give you an idea, Bamba is a very popular brand down there...this is the kind of thing I have to put up with!

ReplyDeleteI'm either having a stroke or a moment here. I actually saw Spanky and Our Gang . . . in 1967 . . . on a VA cruise on the Chicago River. I may have been only 9 but there I was. Time just warped in on itself on me . . . help me. --Muzak McMusics
ReplyDeleteThis collapsing of time is perfectly normal, the effect of StealthLink™ Technology. "Working for a better yesterday -tomorrow!®" isn't just a catchphrase, it's a slogan!
DeleteAnonymous, beware of stroking in the current heatwave. Unless, of course it is a downwards stroke of your wife’s belly on the way to her talcumed grotto to explore her nocturnal interstices.
DeleteWhat are we all thinking about the Wings record? Good, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAs usual, my finite powers of observation and analysis have failed me. Where is the furshluggener stealth link??????

DeleteSadly, that does not appear to be the case.
