"You Can Cut That Bit Out" Dept.

Martin & Lewis get NSFW on our asses, plus a bunch of parody bits. Discogs has everything that humankind knows: https://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Caddy/release/12052250

  2. Hmmm, odd. I've never warmed to Jerry Lewis. Dino, of course, is another matter. Particularly fond of Dean 'Tex' Martin. Actually, I always preferred Rowan & Martin. I wonder if the Laugh-In would seem as hilarious now as it did back then.

    1. There was an anniversary special about Laugh In a few months ago, and it surprisingly did age well (at least for me it did).
Anyone ever read about Lewis' Holocaust camp movie that never was picked up for distribution - yikes! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_the_Clown_Cried

    2. Laugh-in runs every night on the Decades channel which we get over-the-air for free here. Still pretty great!!

    3. I remember watching it in a packed TV room in the Students' Union at Hull, the atmosphere there probably heightened the appreciation. Fond memories, fond memories......

  3. Finally, I feel that my instincts about Martin & Lewis were completely accurate and my distaste of their horrid teamwork was totally justified. Jerry can't even use profanity out of character. His act is aimed at making low IQ seem glamorous and that is only a couple of steps down from the wino Dino shtick about glamorous alcoholism! Man, only in America. Whatever debt Martin had leveraged against his own career must have been huge to be stuck with Lewis. The pair is enough to throw the television in the trash. I don't know how OR if America really got through it. Rock bottom!!! So, relish the first track on this disc and try to figure out why this shit was ever produced.
    Thank you, farq!

  4. Foam heads with a hankerin for this type of ffffffffffffffoolishness (was gonna say "Filth," but I am sure it's tame by today's standards...) would do well (or un-well, depend on how much this type of junque turns yer stomach) to seek out the series 'CELEBRITIES AT THEIR WORST."

    1. Ah yes, those are priceless collections! The Buddy Rich snippets are "rich" indeed. I could probably post those if there's interest

    2. ...depend...

      Tie-po'

I was NOT trying to insert a sub-lib-uh-ull (as Bush #2 might say) message, or a plug for Adult Undergarments. Despite the need for same every so often when Jack K's Cat checks in with one of his HIGH-larious reminiscences or adult beverage-addled anecdotes...

      I meant to type:

      "depending"

      Where is that Cat man...?!

  5. This M&L one somehow brings to mind other "verboten" / "Under-the-Counter" (not "cultured") "plain label" items such as "The Contest"...
