You'll know hunky Jason Statham from his award-winning participation in the 1990 Commonwealth Games, where his diving skills for Team Britain attracted major underwear designers! But did you know he's also something of an authority on Powerpop?! We relaxed poolside whilst [grammar - Ed.] Kreemé [can't source picture so have embedded placeholder image above - Ed.] served signature Vegemite™ n' Bailey's™ smoothies!
FT3 Jase, baby! Lookin' smooth n' stubbly with a twinkly hint o' GTA, maybe GBH! How's it hangin' my man!
JS Oh, comme çi, comme ça.
FT3 So - th' Jaseman digs Powerpop! Who knew?
JS Not I, dear boy! When do I get paid?
FT3 [laughs awkwardly] Ha ha! Which you brung us a couple albums awready!
JS You mean those things you forced on me as I stepped from the helicopter? I rather think my secretary disposed of them.
FT3 Haw! That's th' Stathers fo' ya! Always wit' th' gags!
JS My IBAN code. It's been fun.
[tape runs out at this point - Ed.]
Yes, watersport fans, Jason's Powerpop Pick is a couple albumens from unfairly obscure Th' Tisburys, and gee, are they ever swell! You certainly won't regret downloading today's dual deliverable!

ReplyDeleteQuestion 42,356,781 to which the answer is Niet
ReplyDeletebut now you mention it I might watch them after I've rewatched Close Encounters Of The Third Kind as prompted by Babs....
I loved Close Encounters the first time around, completely taken in by the FX. The remake lost it for me, especially the goopy ending.
DeleteAction for action's sake. Crap, but hard to stop watching.
ReplyDeleteTrash, maybe,, but far from crap.
DeleteNo, I hardly watch any TV during the summer, or is it a couple of films. Nice placeholder image.
ReplyDeleteFillums.
DeleteHere are th' Tisburys, who are terrific.

(Fun fact - I used to work in Tisbury!)
Yep! I enjoyed them, though the sequel was a bit of a letdown.
ReplyDeleteIf I could be said to have ever grown up it was within a couple of miles of a hamlet named Crank whose surrounding fields of rape shine glorious and yellow in the sunny months.
ReplyDeleteTisbury looks v nice. Haven't seen the film but the presence of the Stathe is a fairly reliable indicator of big stupid enjoyment eg 'The Meg 2', which i forgot most of even before it ended.
I remember the death of the Asian sidekick in Crank being unreasonably unpleasant, especially in a 'fun' action movie, and find it hilarious - spoiler for a twenty year old film I guess - that they go out of their way to show that Statham's character is dead at the end, only to completely handwave that away at the beginning of the sequel with a 'nah, he ain't dead, just some scratches' when the guy fell out of helicopter or some such thing (It's been awhile snce I've seen that film...)
