BAYMI Dept.

  1. Saw this hanging on the wall of a restaurant (the kind that doesn't have many walls) and asked if they wanted to sell it. They did. Painted about thirty years ago by the restaurant owner's brother, long dead. Now in my home, cleaned up and cared for.

    2. Oh - the bright areas are gleaming gold, not white!

  3. This is a fantastic painting! I would have never thought to ask them if they wanted to sell it, but fortunately you did. A wonderful addition to your home.

    1. Next time I visit the restaurant, I'll try to get more details about the artist. It's a properly constructed piece physically, in a beautifully finished teak frame (about 3' wide), canvas on a good stretcher, must have been made in Bangkok, a specialised thing like this. I paid 4000 baht for it (around $120), which was the asking price. I didn't haggle! With all the finely detailed brushwork, it must represent a half-year's work. When the morning sun catches it sideways, it glows like some psychedelic tapestry.

If your comment doesn't immediately appear, it means Kreemé is checking the handwriting before passing it on to me. I'm a busy man and have no time to decipher crayoned scrawls.
