Jazz On A Summer's Day Dept.

Like, digsville!
Jimmy Giuffre, Third Streamer First Class and Foamfeatured© antecedently, teams up with fellow no-sweat reedsman Lee Konitz (check those eyeglasses!) for what will be the nicest album you've heard all your life, probably. At least for today.

Cooler than a Daiquiri in a frosted glass, sweeter than a summer breeze, this is music to ease the fever in your soul or the ache in your heart.

This is the original nine-track release. Included as a FoamBonus© is Giuffre's rare The Four Brothers Sound, an interesting experiment in multi-tracking, but no masterpiece.

    1. The only place I went was right here. Nowhere better.

    2. My fault, my fault. I wished you happy trails and all of a sudden everyone thought you went on a trip around the world. When just staying on your own damn couch to recharge your batteries is a damn fine way to go as well...

    1. See me, feeeeel me, touch me...

Listen, it could be worse. Lots. (It ain't Zappa...)

(...prepare for onslaught of Frank-o-philiac defenders...)

Oh, and, thanks for the summery day digital download.

    2. I kinda like the saxophone quartet sound. Chamber Jazz. Some bass and soprano sax to add interest to the tonality would be okay, but this is just fine. Wikipedia says that's Jim Hall on the guitar and Bob Brookmeyer on piano.

    3. Can't go wrong with Jim Hall.

    4. I love the title track, the rest is ok. But why listen to "ok" when you can listen to his masterpiece "The Train and The River"? Same is true of the other albums made with Bob Brookmeyer (usually on trombone) and Jim Hall.
Thanks for highlighting the Lee Konitz album . . . I have another Verve release "Herb Ellis meets Jimmy Giuffre" but had overlooked this one.
      Cheers, Peanuts Molloy

    5. Why? Because you don't listen to The Train And The River all the time to the exclusion of everything else, ya doofus! That's not how music works. Listen to this, then to that. Glad to see you out on parole, Peanuts.

    6. Ah yes. I see now where I've been going wrong so thanks for that.
Taking your wise words on board, I'm about to listen to River Station by Giuffre and Andre Jaume; let's see what happens . . . .
