Much discussion of this in my classes over the last several years. Many of the young youngs are convinced that hitting the like button is akin to storming the gates....it's oddly fascinating.

DeleteI suppose you can make the argument that it's better than nothing, and has an incremental effect in "getting things done", but that's exactly the sort of thing a slacktivist would say. At its worst, it's an active disincentive to getting out of the house and meeting people and talking and organising. Why bother when you can win valuable internet points by posting a hard-hitting meme?
