We axed her to bring a treasured collectable with her during her fact-finding visit to th' IoF© to assess its viability in her real estate portfolio! The Shames get a little bit of a kicking for sounding like other groups. Well, yeah, they do, you can hear the influences (and not just The Beatles, who were in turn influenced by ...), but this was recorded in 1967, FFS, at exactly the same time their influences (I better mention The Association's harmonies) were in the studio. It's like dismissing Satanic as a Pepper copy - they were recorded at the same time. All these influences, stylistic touches, ideas and trends were in the air; anyone could net them down, conjure them up. Yet today, artists are praised for "channeling" ideas from decades ago, and references are boxes to check,
