This here album was recorded in '67/'68, shelved by the record company (I've said it before - record companies is a buncha schnooks) and eventually issued in 2011 [fercrissakes - Ed.] in a sleeve you'd scroll or flip right past, such was its undistinctiveness (I've said it before - record companies is a buncha schnooks) which is a damn shame, on account which it's swell. Great acid guitar, strong harmonies, all the perquisites of consolette time here on th' IoF. It's free, you'll dig it.
The Frantics tell the same sad story. Equally excellent, although leaning into hard rock. FoamFeatured™ antecedently, but duct-taped to the deliverable whether you want it or not!

Return Of The Son Of StealthLink®! The access portal to the deliverable has been cunningly embedded in the post, using the latest in computer technology! Can YOU find it? Oboy! Some fun, huh?

Prove everyone wrong. Compare apples and oranges.
ReplyDeletecomparing them is is like dancing about architecture...? Hmmm...fruits, can be colorful...I feel like I am missing the assignment here, which is obviously par for the course (see, for example, my paltry entry in the what's to like about France sweepstakes)
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, if one had to define "acid guitar," what's a peachy example?
Peak Acid Guitar is the wig-out at the end of The Litter's epochal "I'm A Man".
DeleteThere are approximately 50,000 orange trees in Seville, compared to zero apple. And, the zenith of acid guitar was the Chamber Brothers' "Time Has Come Today."
DeleteYes, we have no apples.

preach, pmac--that's church
DeleteI'm not hearing much guitar here, pmac. It's mostly percussion and grunting, isn't it? Notthathere'sanythingwrongwiththat. But the "zenith of acid guitar"? A long way behind The Litter:

This comment to the clip gets it right: "What a fucking meltdown guitar!!! Brilliant."
Here's teen bubblegum popsters The Lemon Pipers, giving a masterclass:

I liked that Litter track very muchly.
DeleteReal lightning in a bottle moment. Nothing else they did comes close, but that's okay, once is enough, and it works every time. If anyone asks me "Just what is it that makes acid guitar so different, so appealing?" I spin this disc on th' Consolette® and watch their brains turn into phosphorescent frangipane!
Deletethe Litter track is epic
DeleteWell ... according to those Floyd boys ....
ReplyDelete"Thought you might like to know
I'm her lorry driver man, she's on the run
Down by the riverside, feeding ducks in the afternoon tide
(Quack, quack, quack, quack)"
..or, in Thaiglish ...
"Same, same but different"
In this essay I will show how Syd Barrett invented Acid Guitar.
Deleteapples are red and oranges are blue
ReplyDeleteI miss Nedick's and quietly crazy rock and roll
sit back think of your happy place and you'll hear it
...woody
Oranges are considered true fruits. Apples are not.
ReplyDeleteAlso, only apples can make cider.
Deliverable @193 added as StealthLink®! Why not get the gang around and have a StealthLink® hunt! Why not set out soda and pretzels for the gang and have a swell StealthLink® party! Why not? because they're a bunch of grifting nogood bums that's why not! Fooey on them! What did them lousy schnooks ever done for you? Nuttin'! Why, for two cents I'd ... I'd ...

This is the other side of acid guitar. The guitar player/leader was trippin' on the wrong kind of acid, tripped over and dumped most of his albums in the sea, never to be heard of again.
Wowie Zowie!! Found it!! Thanx Farq!!
ReplyDeleteNo clues, now! We don't want to spoil the fun!
DeleteI suppose this is more Space Guitar then Acid Guitar, and verging on Guitar Hero territory, but it's a few decades more recent than the above, though not exactly new. Anyway, it came to my attention recently, and fits in with the "extended instrumental that somehow remains interesting" genre that I've been exploring lately.
